nopslides Fast and furious while staying quite civilized, this album is a treat from the front cover to the track list on the back. The band matures like fine wine, keeping true to their roots while showing the evolution of their musical tastes and abilities. Highly recommended. Favorite track: Fallout.

Spirals 02:53
Broken pieces on the shelves The mangled wreckage of ourselves I could turn my back on them If it wasn't for the name I see spirals around the room Is it all just a dream? It’s still messing with my head A single thought to start a thread It leaked before, it's dripping now Some things just flow, while others drown You don't get to move, or make a sound The nurse will show you around I can see it now, the falling casket Cheer up, go smile and wave to them all Trapped in this conjecture Who the fuck let us in? I can barely hear the lecture Over the voices in my head The motivation, well this is all I seek Slowly happening to me The paranoia, despise the state I’m in I will see you way down the road It leaked before, still dripping now Some things just flow, while others drown You don't get to move, or make a sound The nurse is watching around Way under the ground, the fallen casket Cheer up, go smile and wave to them all The motivation, well this is all I seek Slowly happening to me The paranoia, despise the state I’m in I will see you way down the road I held my head [for ransom] Pass out or take off, the dust will settle I can feel it, mind over matter The preacher, the master, the moron, the bitch Throw ‘em in the fucking ditch Whatever you said It's all in my head It sounds like a no-brainer I'll give you some time I'm running away Tripping on my failures

Deeper Cuts 02:43
Hold on to your disguise Although it’s made out of cardboard cutouts Tear it apart once you realize It’s only convincing from afar I’m phoning it in Because it’s all that I can do Buying some time, hiding I never really feel like I belong Sing me your deeper cuts Not the single everyone has heard about Turn the record over Put some mileage on the flip side I’m phoning it in Because it’s all that I can do Buying some time, hiding I never really feel like I belong I hope we find each other In the middle when it’s over Our eyes away from the ground For years we shoegazed our lives away I hope we find each other In the middle when it’s over When windows replace mirrors I hope we find each other I’m phoning it in Because it’s all that I can do Buying some time, hiding I never really feel like I belong
3.
Fallout 03:15
Dressed as a stranger, the mirror's cracking My dreams are dying with my smile, laughing A bullet misplaced, you think It's pretty unfair? Hey fuck your plan B, man I’m going straight A's It's too easy being a ghost when everything is so loud When they'd do anything they could to be part of the collage You're squeezed by the envelope, crushed by the filters If this is all, I thought it'd be better A shelter With freedom It's impossible One last stunt ‘til the word is out One last stunt ‘til the word is out One last stunt 'til we're gone I doubt it'll be better A shelter With freedom It's impossible

It’s time we raised the stakes Stepped out of line once for a change Rope barriers, they only work if you want them to Wait up I’m still gearing up for the flight While the fall is all I can see coming I’ll keep on wondering why and waste my life Chomping on bricks with cyanide teeth Awaiting idly for a big break No more safeguards No more contingencies It’s time we raised the stakes And stepped out of line for a change Because the warranty comes to an end after all Wait up I’m still gearing up for the flight While the fall is all I can see coming I’ll keep on wondering why and waste my life Chomping on bricks with cyanide teeth

Show me something I haven’t seen yet Through nostalgia’s deforming mirror How thin can the magic be stretched Before it’s all out of flavour? The moment’s long gone Can we skip the reruns for a while? When out of veins to tap into Just drag my passed out body around I’ll sleep in, I’ll come back renewed In a sequel, a reboot, overstaying my welcome The ghost you live up to Can only disappoint Go chase it all you want But you may not like what you close in on Show me something I haven’t seen yet Through nostalgia’s deforming mirror How thin can the magic be stretched Before it’s all out of flavour? The moment’s long gone It’s barely a shadow now When out of veins to tap into Just haul my dried out carcass around I’ll sleep in, I’ll come back renewed In a sequel, a reboot, overstaying my welcome

Cold Call 03:59
Consumed and thrown out, a peaceful conclusion Messages left unread, much less skimmed Reaching out is not the problem It’s just that lately bottles have overthrown the ocean You’ve got to figure it out, you’re nothing You must have realized by now Just a cold call away from further rejection Read the empty room, no reactions Faces in a haze, so distant Crowds at the door, they never get in Endlessly waiting for the next show You’ve got to figure it out, you’re nothing You must have realized by now Just a cold call away from further rejection You’ve got to figure it out, you’re no one You must have realized by now Just a cold call away from further rejection So many loose threads Can’t seem to pull them all So many loose threads Can’t seem to pull them all At the risk of getting tangled up And choking underneath so much content You’ve got to figure it out, you’re nothing You must have realized by now Just a cold call away from further rejection
7.
Turn it off, no one’s invested in this projection anyway An off-screen death is all I can ever hope to live to see Written off, one of us won’t make it past the cutting room The same who’s bound to be credited as an extra in the end You’ll know when the covers start to quickly fade How crooked the scale when it leans down all the way From the high ground you’ll see everything coming miles away The uphill battles you’re acquainted to Cut them off these chains so the ghost is done with rattling An off-screen death is all you’ll have, ‘cause I can’t see this straight I’ll rain upon this whole parade Avoiding attention like a plague You’ll know when the covers start to quickly fade How crooked the scale when it leans down all the way From the high ground you’ll see everything coming miles away The uphill battles you’re acquainted to You’ll know when the covers start to quickly fade How crooked the scale when it leans down all the way From the high ground you’ll see everything coming miles away The awkwardness of the receiving end

Can't Fix it 02:55
I got to admit that I got a little nervous there Oh it’s never right Gentrified slightly, isn’t it? A minefield, it’s pretty hard to bet Where to step and what to say In the end we never know Teared up walls waiting to be fixed Welcome home, bad analysis You can’t decide to wear this hat Hear me out it’s not the right place [Break the mold] it’s not easy [Wake them up] it used to be In hindsight it’s still useless The shots fired are no mistakes Shattered Crumbled It’s over [you can’t fix it] [Break the mold] it’s not easy [Wake them up] it used to be In hindsight it’s still useless The shots fired are no mistakes It’s nothing
9.
This is the part where the autopilot settles in for good Where the distance is so great, talking won’t water down the miles Are these just words we’re spilling out there? How come we’re taking sides? I’m not even on mine I just show everything I’m not Acting as if I wasn’t there With directions set in my mind I merely drift the other way We could share silence before All the poorly concealed monologues Then we could chew the scenery some more By just stating the obvious
10.
Lampshading 04:01
No growth, no overarching story The page turns, the chapters bring nothing Just false assumptions that only we learned what no one knows No growth, no overarching story We never change, the truth is we don’t wanna Cruising on the easy way home, we’re never wrong I’ll hang a lantern over it Watch it burn and fizzle out on its own One last try to be the change That I sing about but never come close to at all No growth, no overarching story We’re derivative of what we’ve always been We’re derivatives I’ll hang a lantern over it Watch it burn and fizzle out on its own One last try to be the change That I sing about but never come close to at all

VDTLJ 05:33
Staring at the ceiling In a place I can’t recall Can you help me get myself together Give me everything I need and long for? Finally grasped a feeling A transient love for something new That just fills up every plot-hole Gives me everything I need and yearn for Stay out of my head, won’t give in again Until I see you right on the corner Dressed the same way as the day we first met I swear, I swear I know better Now the storm has faded The wind dried me to the bones You gave but took a lot more It was everything I needed But it’s not right Stay out of my head, won’t give in again Until I see you right on the corner Dressed the same way as the day we first met I swear, I swear I know better

about

Hate it Too came together in 2008 in Trois-Pistoles, but has been active in Quebec City since 2012. With hundreds of shows already played and two studio releases that were well received by the worldwide skate-punk community (It’s About Time (EP) and Purple Mountains). The band managed to mix a punk rock sound with melodic metal for their new LP, which just gives them that leverage they had been hoping for to expand their reach past the Canadian borders in the next few years. Hate it Too is about to release their sophomore album on May 22nd, 2020 with their new label, Hell for Breakfast.

///
