Go figure out for yourself Ditch away your comfort As this ride’s gonna be damn long The perfect seat does not exist It’s part of the game, yeah part of the myth Dragged away from plan A The compass rolls and the wheels follow It’s either this or standing still The price is marked up, no longer a steal We’re out of bounds, or out of luck Either way, we just didn’t give a fuck Give me a reason to stay on this trip My mind is off, we’re off to a great start We’re all here tonight, let’s celebrate this holy blight This was all I hoped for Go figure out for yourself Apologies accepted, now it’s time that we cruise back home It’s time We build tensions, but never quite resolve them We build tensions Give me a reason to stay on this trip My mind is off, we’re off to a great start We’re all here tonight, let’s celebrate this holy blight This was all I hoped for I spent it all, this ride will cost my home I give it up, this ride is now all yours It’s time We build tensions, but never quite resolve them

Same old bullshit A wicked drug The same old bugs crawling in Seeking comfort for more discomfort I didn't mean to stare I’ve let it come too close once again Quit the pressure Cut it off Let it fade away Walked on a thin line The thinnest you’ve seen My head’s far away Leave it there as it bleeds What can I say for you to remember me? Long distant memories I feel I’ve betrayed Trampled on corpses to end up like them What can I say for you to remember me? The figures are so wrong Don’t even bother I heard what you said, but don’t even bother Lots of faces, lots of frustrations More than ever, they don’t need another Headed there, towards the exit sign Take a walk next to the park To the mall or down the streets As I heard it’s somewhere out there Always with you on-the-go A reminder you’re far behind Grown tired of self-righteous talks I heard what you said, but don’t even bother Lots of faces, lots of frustrations More than ever, they don’t need another Headed there, towards the exit sign I heard what you said, but don’t even bother Lots of faces, lots of frustrations More than ever, they don’t need another I heard what you said, but don’t even bother

Affliction I missed the whole point A fiction Just how it should be Your proposition’s dead, it’s hanging on old thoughts my friend Old wishes out of sight Just how it should be Nothing stays in tune forever I no longer talk Slight changes making waves in my own drink I know I’ll never find the words These rants are choking me again No, I never find the words The sole purpose’s lacking, a shifting game I could lose this side of me I no longer care I’m moving on Won’t try to catch up with you Affliction I miss the old ways Addiction Burnt Just how it should be We’re on the loose with time to lose somehow I don’t even care if you say it’s all good Near overdose, under a clinical trial I don’t even care if you say it’s all good It’s not good I know I’ll never find the words These rants are choking me again No, I never find the words The sole purpose’s lacking, a shifting game I could lose this side of me I no longer care I’m moving on Won’t try to catch up with you

I’ve been avoiding words lately As much as I have been lazy The moment left along with my last shot At digging far too deep To return out of depth and empty-handed You can write that shit, but you sure can’t say it Break me down, so I can channel every feeling Every shortcoming through water metaphors All these jaded lines to picture a skewed vision Even self-destruction now feels old I’ve been avoiding words lately They always sound so dramatic Tear down every opened door and feel the cold The overwhelming silence When everything’s been said and overthought You can write that shit, can you ever mean it? Break me down, so I can channel every feeling Every shortcoming through water metaphors All these jaded lines to picture a skewed vision Even self-destruction now feels old Gather everything you’ve got See for yourself the mess it is when contradictions pile on And all the cracks show up And the structure fails under its own weight Break me down, so I can channel every feeling Every shortcoming through water metaphors All these jaded lines to picture a skewed vision Even self-destruction now feels old

If the devastation of this delusion ever comes our way I’ll just smile and you’ll know it’s up to you Chances are thrown, and here we are on the ground crawling back in misery Last night, I swear we had the answer How did it end right there? Waiting for more, I’m looking around forever Everlasting fear of constant failures How did it end right there? If the devastation of this delusion ever comes our way I’ll just smile and you’ll know it’s up to you Save it all for greater days then, hope your heart starts racing again Discrete, the triggers gone away Put it anytime, at any place Walking hand in hand, disgrace is all I see This night means everything to me What if we tried? What if we failed? The wicks are short when the flames are blazing We’re not amazed, are we allowed? Thanks to the preachers of this cruel fiction Another dream, another lie We’re fucking dying If the devastation of this delusion ever comes our way I’ll just smile and you’ll know it’s up to you Save it all for greater days then, hope your heart starts racing again Discrete, the triggers gone away

about

After unveiling their mellower side on their 2020 full-length album Lampshading, Hate it Too cranks the volume back to eleven on their new EP Gaslighting. While still exploring the depths of personal relationships and the human psyche with their trademark deadpan poetry, they come back with their most progressive and melodic instrumentations yet.
